Military Scholarships, Grants and Loans
The most famous military scholarship is probably the G.I. Bill. Recent changes due to take effect in 2009 actually make this scholarship even more attractive than it was before. Recipients will now receive double the prior benefits, up to and including the full cost of public school. Additionally, one thousand dollars are allocated for the purchase of school materials, such as books. The GI Bill accounts for roughly $35,000 in aid. One is required to be active at least one hundred and eighty days and the funds must be used within ten years of the date of leaving active duty / discharge.
A lesser known military scholarship is the Army College Fund, which is a great offer in its own right. The Army College Fund can provide up to $45,000 for college.
